dayton professional development

Through funding from the City of Dayton, OEP is offering professional development workshops for 3rd & 4th grade teachers in Dayton Public Schools. Each program is correlated to your grade’s science content standards in both science and ELA. Curriculum, student worksheets and assessments are provided for every teacher and a kit of equipment (valued at over $500) will be provided for each school. Options will be shared for both in school learning and to support students via distance learning. Register on the form below.

3rd Grade: Literature & Energy Sources and States of Matter
Using non-fiction literature, students will explore the 10 sources of energy, complete a design challenge and investigate states of matter.
Thursday, August 13 12p-2p

4th Grade: Electricity, Thermal Energy & Climate Change
Provide a hands-on science experience exploring electricity and thermal energy. Resources include Snap Circuits, a design challenge and fiction and non-fiction literature.

A $75 stipend will be provided for teachers participating in the summer workshops since it is outside of your normal contract hours.

OEP is observing Ohio Department of Health safety recommendations. Social distancing will be observed. Teachers will only use new materials and there will be no group work. Masks are required at all times.
