Energy Sources Tour

OEP's Most Popular Professional Development.

This 2.5-day bus tour of energy sites around Central Ohio gives teachers the opportunity to explore behind-the scenes and to learn from energy industry professionals who lead the group. You’ll receive valuable OEP curriculum and materials you can use in the classroom.

 

2020 tour stops include The Ohio State University Center for Automotive Research, High Voltage Lab and Nuclear Reactor Lab, Renewable Energy sites, and the Rumpke Recycling Plants

COVID-19 TOUR/BLITZ CHANGES

Due to social distance and group size recommendations, OEP will not host the Energy Sources Tour or Blitz in 2020.

You will be notified by April 17th if you have been selected to participate. After April 17th, registration will remain open as long as spots are available.

Priority will be given to the following teachers:

  • 1st time participants (2nd time participants will ONLY be accepted if you participated prior to 2010)
  • 3rd-12th grade Ohio classroom science teachers with a 2019-20 teaching assignment
  • One teacher per school and/or school district unless space allows

Transportation, meals and lodging (double occupancy) are FREE! If selected, you will be asked for a $100 deposit to hold your spot, but it will be returned at the end of the Tour. Your deposit is only forfeited if you cancel 30 days or less prior to the trip departure date.

PLEASE NOTE: The deposit is not due until you are accepted.

One or two semester hours from Ashland University at a cost of $175/semester hour. A course syllabus will be included with your confirmation packet.

The agenda for the 2019 Tour is still being confirmed, but will include: American Electric Power Transmission Center, Rumpke Recycling, Conesville Power Plant, and energy research labs at The Ohio State University.
